A Warm Welcome to Dorothy Gardner!
Our values of ‘Respect’, ‘Grow’, and ‘Unique’ run through everything we do:
Respect: We create a secure environment of trusting relationships, in which our children learn to value themselves, others, and the world around them, and are treated with kindness and empathy.
Grow: Our children embrace ‘growth’, developing resilience, a love for learning and exploration in nature and the world around, and the confidence to overcome challenges, enabling them to reach their full potential.
Unique: We want children to develop creativity and celebrate their individuality, recognising their unique qualities and strengths, and to feel confident in expressing who they are while respecting the uniqueness of others.
Dorothy Gardner is made up of a nurturing, talented and specialist team, and we prioritise the relationship we build with each child and family. We help families on their unique journey through the early years, having supportive day to day chats and linking with extra support if needed. By getting to know each child well, and encouraging their unique strengths and interests, we help our children to feel at home, secure, and happy at nursery and to develop the confidence to explore and try new things. Irrespective of starting points or additional needs, the well-being of children is high at Dorothy Gardner, and we are proud of the great progress every child makes in their learning and development through their time with us.
We have a lovely spacious nursery and attractive garden sanctuary hidden in here! Children have rich experiences of nature regularly getting involved in gardening, using our edible garden for cooking, and getting out of the nursery into the woods for Forest School sessions. We offer an exciting and enriching curriculum, including through the links we make with our local area and city, and offer lots of opportunities for parents to get involved.
Dorothy Gardner is a wonderful community to be part of and a special and much loved nursery. We warmly invite you to visit and see for yourself.

Our Values
We asked our educators, parents and students what they think our values are as a school. As a result we have these three phrases that represent us, and our community.
